Please know your health and satisfaction are important to us. We are boutique batch growers of artisan strains and our genetics have withstood the test of time as naturally resistant. We rely only upon environmental controls and biological solutions for pest and mold management; then we back up our Poison Free claim with Medically Compliant testing according to Chapter 246-70 WAC to ensure your clients have clean cannabis to safely enjoy.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Background:
Washington Bud Company began providing medical cannabis to safe access points in early 2012. We embraced practices of growing clean medicine because our founders, Shawn and Bill, use it to treat Lyme disease and Hepatitis C.
We proved our methods produced clean cannabis when we were the first grower to test for 14 pesticides and 4 heavy metals under the WA State Department of Health (WSDH) program; allowing us to use the General Use Compliant symbol.
That program was grossly under-promoted and then interrupted when the sole heavy metal approved lab quit in January 2019.
The Situation:
There are new laws and regulations coming that will address mandatory pesticide testing, lab standards and coordination of the four regulatory bodies that address cannabis: The Departments of Agriculture, Health, Ecology and the LCB.
Currently, the pesticides and action levels lists are inconsistent between agencies. We do not know how the Department of Ecology will change things once they become active in cannabis.
Medicine Creek has finally been certified to test for heavy metals, but pesticide testing outside the compliant program includes dozens more pesticides than identified by WSDH.
The traceability system often treats WA Bud Co medically compliant products as HIGH THC, halting the retail sales process to non-patient buyers. Ironically, our solution is to UNCHECK the medically compliant box so transactions are not confused with those for only patients.
The Solution:
Washington Bud Company places high value on our reputation for growing clean cannabis. We have concluded WSDH compliance symbol is no longer worthwhile. We will replace it with our own symbol.
We will test according to our own program until the laws, rules, agencies and labs have settled on common lists, action levels and standardize methods of testing.
As of the April 15, 2019 harvest we will test each crop for the full list of pesticides and heavy metals. Those test results will be sent with each invoice along with the regular QA tests. During the transition you will see the WSDH symbol covered up on strains that were harvested after Jan. 2019 and prior to April 2019.
Growing healthy genetics free from harmful pesticides and heavy metals is the best thing we can do for our store partners, our fan base and our company. Rest assured Washington Bud Company will continue to provide CLEAN CANNABIS to the public; as we always have; regardless of a functioning state program!
Sincerely, Shawn DeNae and Bill Wagenseller – Founders, Owners, Growers and Medical Patients

Please know that the health, safety and satisfaction of cannabis consumers are important to us. We are boutique batch growers of artisan strains and our genetics have withstood the test of time as naturally resistant, but we do rely on some help.
We depend exclusively upon biological and environmental solutions to control pests and molds with natural, non-toxic methods to provide clean cannabis to safely enjoy. Our crops are pesticide and heavy metal safe, as always.
We were the first grower to qualify for the Dept. of Health program and we will not change our practices from lack of a functioning program.
Washington Bud Company will set our own standards until further notice!
